Yakubu welcomes new faces

Yakubu believes Everton's late business in the transfer market will help them end their 14-year wait for silverware
David Moyes brought in five new faces in the final week of August, with Louis Saha, Marouane Felliani, Lars Jacobsen, Segundo Castillo and Carlo Nash making the move to Goodison Park.

The Toffees have struggled to find their best form this season, with their solitary victory at West Bromwich Albion sandwiched by home defeats to Blackburn Rovers and Portsmouth.

Yakubu, who was on target against Rovers and the Baggies before seeing a penalty saved against Pompey, feels the additions will help the club achieve glory this term.
GREAT HONOUR
The Nigeria international captained his country for the first time at the weekend as they defeated South Africa 1-0, to end the 2010 World Cup hosts' hopes of qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations in the same year.

Yakubu said: "I have an ambition to win a trophy with the club this season.

"I'm very pleased that Everton has bought some new players to boost up our squad, it will make us stronger to achieve that aim.

"I want to score more, that's my target. It is a great honour to captain your country, I feel it is recognition for my service over the years.

"Obviously there is added responsibility but I can't let it take away from my job and that is to score goals for club and country."
