With the rojiblancos facing a one goal deficit as they look to return to the Champions League, Aguirre is rolling out the big guns.
Maniche, with whom the coach had a colossal falling-out with in the new year, is set to return to the competitive line-up. The Portuguese midfielder had been frozen out after allegedly feigning injury to avoid a Copa del Rey game against lower-league opposition, but he has since been able to return to the manager's good books.
In any case it seems as though the former Porto man will replace his countryman, Paulo Assunçao, in a 4-4-2 alongside Raúl García.
This would come as something of a surprise if it came to pass due to the fact that Aguirre played a 4-1-3-2 for virtually the entire pre-season. What's more, his side need to score, ergo an attacking formation seems likely. Nonetheless Marca seem adamant that Maniche will take part.
Visiting Schalke are still without Manuel Neuer and Orlando Engelaar, while Ivan Rakitic and Jefferson Farfan are yet to be confirmed |
