| Argentine striker Rodrigo Palacio has attracted the attention of Benfica, and with only five days left until the European transfer window closes, they are expected to make a lucrative bid for the player by the end of the week.
Benfica have failed in their attempts to sign Luis Garcia and David Suazo, and head coach Quique Sanchez Flores now sees Palacio as his main priority. The Portuguese giants are confident that the 26-year-old would achieve great success at the Estadio da Luz, but are aware that the likes of FC Barcelona are also after his signature. Palacio is one of the most sought after attacking players to have emerged from South America in recent years, and his impressive track record with Boca Juniors speaks for itself. Although Boca were willing to offload Palacio, what could make things a touch more difficult is that Palacio's strike-partner Martin Palermo was injured on the weekend and will be out of action for up to six months |
