Alves: Barcelona Will Win The League

Daniel Alves believes that Barcelona will win the league title for the first time in three seasons this term despite losing their opening game against Numancia
The Brazilian wing-back is enjoying himself in his new surroundings after moving to Camp Nou from Sevilla during the summer and he thinks that the reverse was a one-off.

Real Madrid have won the championship for the last two successive years, but Alves thinks that this time around the Blaugrana will finally take it back from them.

"I am sure that we will win the league even though I know that other teams have strengthened well. It will not be for a want of trying if we do not. Everyone here is very focussed and ready to work hard to change the dynamics of the past two seasons," he told reporters.

Despite being at Barça for nearly two months, Alves admitted thayt he is still adapting to the team's style of play and his new team-mates.

"The new players here have to adapt to a new way of playing and to our new team-mates," he continued.

"We are a team that goes forward a lot and plays more passing football than Sevilla, who were slightly more direct. Because of that it is impossible for me to play in the same way, but I do still have the same desire."

The defeat at Numancia did see a lot of questions asked about the team, but Alves thinks that the players are solely to blame for not carrying out Pep Guardiola's orders.

"In that game we were too desperate to win maybe and that let us down. The team did not read the game well and did not know how to play as the coach had asked us because he had told us to open up the game," he explained.

"Despite that, it is better to make these mistakes now rather than in two months. I am sure that they will not happen again."
